Getting into photography is not just about equipments. You can the lastest camera and lenses but if don’t have a great, good or even decent composition then the picture is not up to scratch……..Like everyone else starting out. i’ve struggled with it and I still do sometimes. I believe that practise makes perfect but at the same time they are a few rules to obey by.
1- A picture should tell a story. It should captivate the viewer, draw them in and make them linger for a few minutes.
2- A picture should not distract the viewer
3- Fill your frame
4- Get the Background right (no distractions)
5- Take your time to look around to find a good spot
6- Always Bracket your shots
7- Visual your shot before you take it.
It’s all said an done but it’s possible to always be able to follow all these rules before every shot. What do I then? I rely on my knowledge, and optimise the best settings for the situation.
I wouldn’t say am the best photographer out there but my D60 and 2 lenses have done quite well together.Just like any other rule, Composition rules can be broken. In order to do so, you need to need to know the basics.
